Springing into a Refresh

In the 1960s, my grandfather, Art Williams, started a company to address equipment needs for university engineering programs, which eventually led to community college and secondary technical education programs. The name of this company was Arthur B. Williams, Inc. Once my father, Ron, joined the company in 1968, he decided to start his own company, providing a similar service in 1981. Ron wanted a fresh start, but he wanted his customers, who were already familiar with my grandfather, to embrace the new leadership while also associating him with the prior company. The result of this was a business name change to Ronald A. Williams, Ltd.

My father built a successful business that has always valued its customers, and I was fortunate enough to join the company in 2008. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting into or how lucky I would be to meet and work with our customers and vendors. It didn’t take me long to understand that many people had their own nickname for us: RAWL. Several of our customers referred to us as RAWL rather than Ronald A. Williams, Ltd. It was simply easier to say!

Over the past several months, I began to realize that Ronald A. Williams, Ltd. needed a refreshed look and feel. The first thing I did was formally change our name to ‘RAWL’. In addition to our name change, we developed a powerful logo and redesigned our website, both of which fully embrace the specialized customers we serve. What has not changed, however, is our commitment to working for you, providing the best customer service, and remaining honest and transparent with our customers. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you, now as ‘RAWL’.

We hope you enjoy our new look as much as we do.

Stay safe, and thank you for your continued commitment to technology in education.

Rob Williams

RAWL President
